President and founder of ZoomDepot.com LLC, Thurman Richardson, spoke with Legal Zoom.com recently about the nature and creation of their unique business model that is grounded on servicing customers business needs and being available to serve their spritual needs also.
Legal Zoom.com Entrprenuer Profile:Tell us a little about your product or service.
How did you start your company?
ZoomDepot.com started originally as a side project. Many of the ZoomDepot
team held down other full time positions in either IT fields or ran their own
companies. We have all used each other from time to time to do work for friends
and family that needed specific web or business solutions. I decided to pool all
of our resources together so that our talents can be accessible in a centralized
location. Like contractors. But we are much more than that now.

What or who inspired you to go into business for yourself?
I have always wanted to run a firm that helped others to realize
their dreams. My satisfaction comes from helping others. I was motivated into
service by the growing demand and referrals and a guest speaker in my
Sunday school class that posed the question to our class...
"What are you doing in your professional life that is creating a connection
between God and his people"
Well, The answer was simple. Nothing. Now I am. That's why ZoomDepot.com gives away fully
functional web sites , domain names and hosting to faith based organizations and non profits.
What were some of the startup hurdles you overcame?
Time was a big hurdle. Even though all of us were experts in our own areas; We each lacked in some other area. A room filled with smart people and no plan is just a crowed room. Creating an
effective business model for how we were going to make a profit and give as much of that profit away in the form of sites and services was next. Since most of us hold full time jobs; we looked for as much automation as possible.
Is there anything else you'd like to say about your company and/or product or service?
Absolutely.

We used LegalZoom.com to form our LLC, ZoomDepot.com and to trademark our brand.
